CEO Statement: Oka-Bi’s Vision for a Sovereign, Secure, and Patient-Centric NHS Data Platform

26 May 2026

The recent Parliamentary debate on the NHS Federated Data Platform (FDP) revealed something extraordinary: a rare, cross-party consensus. From Labour to the Conservatives, the Liberal Democrats to the Greens, and the DUP, MPs from all major UK political parties agreed on a fundamental truth: the NHS deserves a data infrastructure that is sovereign, secure, and built for the public good.

1. A Well-Architected, Sovereign Solution Exists Today
MPs from across the political spectrum called for a “well-architected, security-by design, resilient, and nationally significant” FDP - one that is powered by UK technology and owned by the NHS. At Oka-Bi, this is not an aspiration; it is our reality.

“Oka-Bi enabled us to be self-reliant and remain fully in control of the data, within our infrastructure.”
Professor Martin Wilkins, Imperial College

We have already protected 8 NHS organisations, enabling them to automate their own data warehouses and own the code, not lease it.

Our platform is built on Privacy Enhancing Technologies (PETs) that keep identities anonymous by design, ensuring compliance and trust.
As highlighted in the debate, the NHS must “build interoperability, not lock-in”. Our modular, Lego-like architecture enables secure, rapid data analytics for NHS organisations, ensuring that GPs, paramedics, and hospitals can access insights quickly and safely, without a single point of failure or reliance on external actors.

2. Trust and Sovereignty Are Non-Negotiable
The debate exposed deep, bipartisan concerns about foreign dependence, lack of transparency, and the erosion of public trust. MPs from all parties emphasised that “we must not rely on systems that do not align with British values”.
Oka-Bi is proudly British, with a boardroom that reflects our commitment to diversity, equality, and inclusion. We are wholly opposed to the surveillance of UK citizens and believe in transparency, accountability, and patient empowerment.

3. Hundreds of Millions Could Be Better Spent
There is unanimous agreement that the £330 million (and counting) allocated to the current FDP delivers no owned software, no intellectual property, and no long-term capability—just a permanent lock-in.
“Oka-Bi were good to work with and worked very hard to help us implement the system and tailor the configuration to our local requirements.”
Andy Hall, Former Deputy Director,Nottinghamshire CCG Community
Oka-Bi’s approach is the opposite: we generate code for the NHS to own, not a black box, but a white box: transparent, adaptable, and future-proof.
Through our early adopter programme, we are already demonstrating how millions can be saved while safeguarding the privacy and security of millions of people’s sensitive data.
We are kicking off our early adopter programme in May for NHS trusts and M&A firms, ready to scale this success across the NHS.

4. Privacy Must Be Core, Not an Afterthought
MPs from all parties stressed that privacy-enhancing technology must be “a robust, audited shield”, not a secondary feature.

“The Oka-Bi platform met the compliance criteria we were looking for in the protection of Nottinghamshire patient data.”

Andy Hall, Former Deputy Director, Nottinghamshire CCG Community

This is the foundation of the Oka-Bi platform. We embed privacy at the data layer, ensuring that identities remain anonymous and compliance is automated.

5. The Time for British Sovereignty Is Now
The debate made it clear: the UK must invest in its own technological capabilities. As Navendu Mishra MP (Labour) said, “We should be investing in British institutions.”

“With the support of Oka-Bi, we have been able to develop a robust system that links together clinical datasets and makes pseudonymised information available for research purposes.”

Professor Martin Wilkins, Imperial College

Oka-Bi is the answer. We have invested 15 years at our own cost to develop technologies that originated inside the NHS and are targeted at benefiting the NHS.

If we do not act now, future governments could weaponise the FDP’s capabilities, a risk Caroline Lucas MP (Green) rightly warned against.

6. A Call to Action: Join Us
To the NHS, its partners, and the UK healthcare community: Oka-Bi is here, ready to support you. We are launching an early adopter programme in May for NHS trusts and M&A firms, offering:

• Owned, deployable code (cloud or on-prem).
• Privacy by Design at the core, not as an add-on.
• Seamless integration with legacy systems.
• British jobs, British skills, British security.

We urge the Government to bring the FDP contract back into public hands and retender with British companies at the forefront. As Martin Wrigley MP (Liberal Democrat) noted, “the NHS systems, although in need of modernising, are improvements on what the FDP has to offer”.

With Oka-Bi, we can build on what works, not replace it with a foreign-controlled, untrusted monopoly.

7. Our Values: Trust, Transparency, and Inclusion

Oka-Bi is more than a technology company. We are a mission-driven organisation that believes in:

• Trust: No surveillance, no hidden agendas: just secure, ethical data use.
• Transparency: Open code, open governance, and no lock-in.
• Inclusion: A boardroom and team that reflect the diversity of the UK.

8. The Choice Is Clear
The debate presented a stark, unified choice: continue down a path of foreign dependence, wasted money, and eroded trust, or embrace a sovereign, secure, and patient-centric future with Oka-Bi.

Oka-Bi: Automate Your Data Platform. Zero Risk.

Next Steps:
• For NHS Trusts & M&A Firms: Contact us to discover more about our early adopter programme, launching in May.
• For Policymakers: Let’s discuss how to transition to a sovereign FDP.
• For the Public: Your data deserves better. Demand it.
